This appendix contains a list of the comments made in a group structured interview carried out at the end of the course. The interview was conducted by both the assignment authors. The majority of the course participants were present.

Below are the comments made by the students. They are in no particular order and the majority were made by individuals and small groups. Where the whole group agreed, the comment is in bold type.
Comments:
- The course was difficult.
- An overview of the course would have been useful.
- The starting meeting did not make it clear what was required.
- The environment was confusing.
- It wasn't clear why they were doing the tasks.
- Some people didn't feel secure.
- The course encouraged self-analysis and reflection.
- The course lacked academic influence.
- Not knowing people makes the course more difficult.
- Trust is a necessary part of participation.
- An earlier meeting would be useful.
- Difficult to get involved if not taken part for one or two weeks.
- Literature could have been more specific.
- More time should be allocated to the online course.
- Response times were slow.
- The course needs to be more interactive.
- Importance of discussion should have been clarified.
- On-line learning ethos needed to be made more clear.
- 'Submittable' tasks would have been useful.
- The course was stimulating.
- Next activity starts before current one complete - not enough time.
- Participants needed to be more self-motivated.
- The activities were not relevant to everyone.
- Some students lacked commitment to whole class.
- Tutors have little control over pupil motivation.
- Tutors should have e-mailed non-participants.
- Some students felt guilty about not contributing.
- Smaller groups would have been better for planning assignments.
- Different students had different expectations.
